Jim Finlayson

Jim is the horsepower of our troupe. A 2:18 marathoner, Jim has already represented his country - Canada - thrice at World Cross Country Running Championships and is a two-time Canadian National Marathon Champion (2003, 2005). His ultimate goal is to fly the maple leaf in the marathon at the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympic Games. To do so, he’ll need a 2:15 marathon qualifier. The 2007 Flora London Marathon will be his first attempt, his reason.three%20reasons.htmlshapeimage_1_link_0

Michael Lord

Recently returned to competitive running, Michael has somehow translated his low 20-second 200m front-end speed into plummeting PBs at the opposite end of the distance scale. Most recently, he ran a 2:40 at the December 2006 California International Marathon. A chartered accountant by trade, Michael hopes the long miles punched into his train log’s winter ledger sheet will sum to a sub-2:36 time at the 2007 Flora London Marathon. His reason? Testing the limits of personal possibility.

Rumon Carter

Rumon is a generalist, which is probably a euphemistic way of saying he’s easily distracted. On two previous occasions he’s had sufficient focus to train for and race a marathon. The first, in 1999, was a 2:56 at the Royal Victoria Marathon. Two years later he ran his second, a 3:11, at the end of his debut Ironman (Canada, 2001 - 9:27). He’s nervously excited about training for the 2007 Flora London Marathon, his first major sporting goal in nearly 6 years. But his reason has nothing to do with time goals. (Though truth is that if you pressed him, he’d admit to really, really wanting to beat the finish line clock to 2:45.)
