London Calling (2 of 3 at least)

Two of the lads - Michael and Jim - have received their Flora London Marathon numbers and race booklets; the third, Rumon, is wondering if this is going to be another junior prom experience.  Hopefully she crosses the dance floor soon.

Otherwise, it’s another TGIF out here on the west coast - easy runs all around; once again, the calm before the weekend storm.  Take your pick who has it worst.  Michael (with Jim pacing him) has 45’ of marathon pace work on Saturday followed another 60’ on Sunday.  As Jim was heard saying on the phone this evening, “I’ve never heard of anything like that [kind of mileage at pace].”  Michael, by Sunday, will have earned yet another “stud of the troupe” award.

Rumon, on the other hand, wouldn’t mind being a gelding so long as he makes it through the pasture (ok, yes, VERY bad metaphor, but it’s late).  Point being, he’s banged-up as a hit-to-pass car, spent the better part of today with super-chiropractor Rob Hasegawa and RMT Bruce Martell and is thanking the stars this is the last weekend of full mileage before the taper begins.  Saturday for him is 3+ hours on the bike followed by a short run.  Sunday is a 2:30 long run including 2 x 4 miles at pace.  His quadriceps are already tender to the touch.  If you listen closely you can already hear him whimpering.

Bon weekend.
